Barcode numbers issued by organisations other than an official GS1 member organisation (GS1 MO) may be rejected by your trading partners resulting in additional costs for you to re-package, re-label and re-list your products, lost sales, unnecessary efforts, reputational damage with your trading partners and Incorrect product identification in Marketplaces.
GS1 provides a global database www.gepir.org in which all active barcode numbers and registered license holder details can be verified. This license validation tool is used by major South African and international retailers to validate the barcode license numbers submitted to them by their suppliers.
Unauthorized Barcode re-sellers undermine the integrity of the GS1 system, they create confusion in the market and disrupt the functionality of supply chains around the world.
